Yate is a telephony engine aimed at creating a softswitch that performs well enough to deal with the PBX (Private Branch eXchange) requirements, ACD (Advanced Call Distribution) and also flexible enough for complex VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) Gateway, Conferencing and IVR (Interactive Voice Response) solutions. FreeSWITCH is an open source telephony application written in C, built from the group up and designed to take advantage of as many existing software libraries as possible.
